Essential qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent
• Full registration with GDC
• Evidence of further development - education and/or training

• Masters level qualification or evidence of training and experience to that level
• Health service management/ leadership qualification
• Postgraduate qualification from a Medical Royal College/Faculty, Significant experience of managing and leadership of dental trainees at DFT level
• Significant experience of managing or working as a DPA including undertaking PADR/appraisals
• Significant track record of employment at a senior level in a health related environment.
• Well established dental practitioner with considerable dental experience of working in the NHS dental arena since their full registration with the GDC.
• Evidence of leading service change with professional colleagues within the dental service areas.
• Understanding and evidence of working with the GDC, HIW and HEIW.
• Experience of dental management
• Considerable experience in clinical leadership roles
• Experience of working effectively with other stakeholders to improve primary community and secondary care services at a strategic and operational level
• Track record of facilitating change to improve services in clinical practice
• Sound knowledge of clinical governance and effective systems of medical management such as job planning, appraisal and clinical assessment
• Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance and its application across health services
• Understanding of medical/dental recruitment and training matters
• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the strategic issues facing NHS Wales
• Understanding and evidence of working with the GDC, HIW and HEIW.
• An understanding of the primary care model for Wales and the national accelerated cluster development programme

  Swansea Bay University Health Board has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas, with a budget of around £1 billion and employing 12,500 people.
  
  We are a University Health Board working in partnership with Swansea University, Swansea School of Medicine, the School of Health Science and the Institute of Life Science. The HB has three major hospitals providing a range of services:
  Morriston and Singleton hospitals in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot hospital in Baglan, Port Talbot.

Mental Health and learning Disabilities services are provided both in hospital settings (Cefn Coed Hospital, Swansea Caswell clinic and Taith Newydd at Glanrhyd Bridgend) and other community settings. We also have community hospital and primary care resource centres providing clinical services outside the main hospitals. The Health Board is part of A Regional Collaboration for Health (ARCH), which is a partnership with Hywel Dda UHB and Swansea University.
