An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Part 2 Architectural Assistant to join the growing Birmingham studio of a well-established, nationally recognised architectural practice.
With a rich history dating back over 100 years, the practice has evolved into a collaborative, multi-disciplinary organisation with more than 65 professionals working across six UK offices. Its work spans a diverse range of sectors including education, healthcare, residential, industrial and commercial, higher education, science and research, heritage, hospitality, sports and leisure, and master planning.
The Birmingham studio is currently a close-knit team of four and is entering an exciting period of growth, with ambitious plans to develop the team to around 10 people by mid-2027. This is therefore an excellent opportunity for a Part 2 Architectural Assistant to join at an early stage and play a meaningful role in shaping the future of the Birmingham office.
The Role
Working as part of a collaborative project team, you will have the opportunity to contribute across different stages of the design and delivery process, developing your architectural knowledge and gaining valuable experience on a diverse range of projects.
Your responsibilities are likely to include:
- Supporting the design and delivery of architectural projects from concept through to completion.
- Producing high-quality drawings, models, presentations and design information.
- Assisting with planning applications and other statutory approval processes.
- Developing design proposals in collaboration with senior members of the project team.
- Assisting with detailed design and technical information.
- Working within BIM and Revit-based project environments.
- Liaising with clients, consultants and other project stakeholders.
- Attending project and design meetings where appropriate.
- Supporting the preparation of presentations, reports and other project documentation.
- Developing your understanding of Building Regulations, construction technology and technical detailing.
- Contributing ideas and creative thinking to help deliver innovative, practical and sustainable design solutions.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Birmingham studio and wider practice.
The majority of projects are delivered using Revit, so previous professional experience with Revit and BIM workflows would be highly advantageous.
About You
You will ideally have completed your Part 2, and will be looking for an opportunity that allows you to build your professional experience towards Part 3.
You should have:
- UK recognised qualifications at Part 1 & 2 level
- Previous experience within an architectural practice is highly desirable.
- Good design, presentation and communication skills.
- Experience using Revit would be highly advantageous.
- Good proficiency in relevant architectural software and digital presentation tools.
- An understanding of construction technology and technical detailing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload.
- A keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to learning.
- A genuine ambition to develop your career within a progressive architectural practice.
Experience across any of the practice's diverse sectors would be welcomed, but above all, they are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, collaborative, creative and keen to develop.
