Join Our Friendly, GP-Led Rural Practice
The Blackdown Practice is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Salaried General Practitioner to join our established team for 4-6 sessions per week. This post is for a salaried GP, but we would also love to hear from GPs who have an interest in becoming a partner in the future. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive, forward-thinking practice where GPs remain at the heart of clinical decision-making.
Located in the stunning Blackdown Hills, we are a thriving, traditional rural practice with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. We operate across three practice sites, all within a five-mile radius of our Hemyock location, and provide a dispensing service to approximately 95% of our patients.

  • A skilled and dedicated nursing team
  • A supportive and experienced management and administration team
  • Strong collaboration with our wider PCN colleagues in the Culm Valley PCN, supported by a wide range of Practice-based ARRS staff including a pharmacist, pharmacy technician, mental health worker, care co-ordinators, and first contact physiotherapists
  • A training practice for GP registrars, medical and nursing students
  • Emis clinical system

Main Duties of the Role
As a Salaried GP at The Blackdown Practice, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality medical care to our registered patient population
  • Provide services in line with our PMS contract, including holding a patient list
  • Prescribe safely and effectively, adhering to local and national guidance
  • Manage patients with long-term conditions
  • Process clinical administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescriptions, and associated correspondence
  • Participate in duty doctor responsibilities on a rotational basis
  • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records in accordance with professional standards and practice policies

We pride ourselves on maintaining a friendly, cohesive team culture and creating an environment where clinicians can thrive professionally while enjoying the benefits of rural living.
