Job overviewThis post is for a Locum Consultant Medical Oncologist with an interest in Melanoma, Skin and Renal, fixed term 12 months based in Brighton but with a clinic in Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath, so must be prepared to travel between sites.
The workload predominantly relates to outpatient clinical activity, with regular commitments to caring for general oncology inpatients and review of patients in the same day emergency care unit as well as taking part in an out of hours oncology on call rota.
In addition the post will require clinical leadership, MDT attendance and active participation, medical student and registrar teaching, there will be clinical leadership and research opportunities.

In the event that we are unable to appoint a candidate for the permanent role of Consultant SPECIALTY (-RSCHCONONCM&S-669), this post will be offered as a fixed-term appointment for 6 months initially with a view to extend for a further 6 months.
Main duties of the job- Clinical trials leadership and delivery
- Acute Oncology team leadership and clinical management
- Clinical admin generated from patients seen and liaison with other AHPs, and primary care
- Clinical Governance meetings
- Ward reviews when appropriate

- MB BS, FRCR or appropriate specialist qualification. or its recognised equivalent
- Full and specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the GMC or be eligible for registration within six months of the interview. If you trained in the UK, you must also have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Oncology or be within six months of receiving it by the interview date. If you trained outside the UK, you must provide evidence that your qualifications are equivalent to the UK CCT.
(Equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC) - Higher Degree
- Evidence of training in broad spectrum of oncology tumour sites
- Interest and training suitable for Melanoma cancer oncology post
- Understanding of clinical risk management
- Breadth of experience in and outside specialty
- Experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams.
- Understanding of: NHS / Clinical governance / Resource constraints
