This post is for a Consultant Medical Oncologist with an interest in Breast and Research, based in Brighton as part of UHSussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The workload predominantly relates to outpatient clinical activity, with regular commitments to caring for general oncology inpatients and review of patients in the same day emergency care unit as well as taking part in an out of hours oncology on call rota.
In addition, the post will require clinical leadership, MDT attendance and active participation, medical student and registrar teaching, and there will be clinical research opportunities.
Main duties of the jobThe clinical duties of the post include the following:
- SACT prescribing
- Clinical trials leadership and delivery
- Clinical admin generated from patients seen and liaison with other AHPs, and primary care
- Clinical Governance meetings
- Ward reviews when appropriate

Proposed interview date:
Aug/Nov 2026
- MB BS, FRCR or appropriate specialist qualification. or its recognised equivalent.
- Full and specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the GMC or be eligible for registration within six months of the interview. o If you trained in the UK, you must also have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Oncology or be within six months of receiving it by the interview date. o If you trained outside the UK, you must provide evidence that your qualifications are equivalent to the UK CCT.
(Equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC) - Higher Degree
- Evidence of training in broad spectrum of oncology tumour sites
- Interest and training suitable for a Breast/Research oncology post
- Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues.
- Breadth of experience in and outside specialty
- Experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams.
- Understanding of: NHS / Clinical governance / Resource constraints
- Evidence of managerial skills:
