An exciting opportunity to join a growing team in a modern, stand‑alone Children’s Hospital by the sea in the South East of England. Working as part of a busy and vibrant team, you will provide excellent day‑to‑day care of patients rostered to the Paediatric Wards, the Children’s Emergency Department and Children Critical Care.
Main duties of the job- Provide consistently excellent care in the paediatric emergency department and wards.
- Work collaboratively with our teams and other specialties.
- Ensure our personal and organisational responsibility for safeguarding children and young people is honoured effectively.
- Ensure our responsibility for the delivery of safe, high‑quality services for children, responsive to the needs of them and their families, is honoured effectively.

Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesFull‑time (European Working Time Directive compliant) rota across Paediatric Wards, Children’s Emergency Department and Paediatric Critical Care (level
2). Rota includes day shifts, long days, night shifts and weekends. Applicants may also apply for less than full time. Candidates must have post‑registration experience working in the NHS.
Clinical duties include the day‑to‑day care of patients role is based at RACH and involves covering, depending on the rota, any of the clinical areas. Numerous opportunities to attend the hospital teaching programme and teach medical students.
Person specification Experience / Qualifications- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice.
- Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent.
- Details of any additional qualifications, accreditation and courses.
- Understanding of clinical risk management.
- Experience in related specialties at ST1 – ST4 equivalent level.
- Breadth of experience in and outside specialty.
- Experience and ability to work in multi‑professional teams.
- Understanding of NHS clinical governance and resource constraints.
- Evidence of managerial skills: achievements or courses attended.
- Evidence of an interest and commitment to teaching.
- Recognised teaching qualification.
- Evidence of participation in audit.
- Prizes and honours.
- Appropriate progression of career to date.
- Evidence of current level of achievement and performance commensurate with training period.
- No history of relinquishment or removal from a training programme, except under exceptional circumstances.
- Evidence of good communication skills, both oral and written.
