Locum Consultant Haematologist

6‑month Consultant Haematologist vacancy. We are ideally looking for someone with an interest in myeloid disorders; applicants with other sub‑specialty interests will also be considered.

The successful applicant will join our friendly haemato‑oncology consultant team (FTE
9) and participate in a 1:13 rota supported by a 2‑tier SHO & SpR on‑call rota. The vacancy is for a full‑time (10PA contract) consultant; less than full‑time applicants will also be considered.

• Qualifications
  • Essential: WHO recognised Basic Medical Degree
  • Full GMC with a licence to practise
  • Desirable: MD or PhD, looked upon favourably
• Clinical Experience
  • Essential:
    Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT
  • Evidence of experience and expertise in the diagnosis and management of haematological malignancies
  • Evidence of the ability to offer expert clinical opinion in emergency and elective aspects of haematology, taking full and independent responsibility for clinical decisions
  • Evidence of up‑to‑date skills in the management of patients with acute haematological emergencies and level 3 care
  • Confident in the diagnosis of haematological malignancies
  • Confident in routine laboratory haematology including bone marrow reporting
  • Understanding of the structure of the NHS and how it works
• Research and Audit
  • Essential:
    Demonstrate knowledge of the role of audit
  • Desirable:
    Publications in refereed journals
• Personal Attributes
  • Essential:
    Enquiring, critical approach to work;
    Commitment to Continuing Medical Education
  • Desirable:
    Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national levels
