North Cumbria Primary Care (NCPC) is seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Educational Lead GP to join our innovative and expanding primary care team in West Cumbria.

This exciting hybrid role combines Lead Clinical GP responsibilities with educational leadership time to support the development of a pioneering GP Training Hub based at Fellview Healthcare Griffin Close Practice in Frizington.

The successful candidate will play a central role in delivering high-quality patient care while helping to train and inspire the next generation of General Practitioners.

About You

We are looking for a motivated and collaborative GP who:

• Holds current GMC registration and is on the GP Register
• Has experience or a strong interest in medical education and supervision
• Demonstrates excellent clinical leadership and communication skills

You'll support the Training Hub as an autonomous practitioner whilst providing high quality care. The Educational Lead GP will:

• Provide GP clinical sessions within their own clinics
• Support and oversee the operational and educational development of the GP Training Hub
• Support and supervise trainee doctors working within the practice environment
• Work collaboratively with experienced clinicians to create an exceptional educational experience
• Contribute to innovation in primary care education within Cumbria

Educational Lead GP

Clinical sessions

The Educational Lead GP role is a hybrid of Lead GP clinical sessions with protected time to oversee the management and development of the Training Hub.

Lead GPs take a key role in being a visible lead to the clinical team to enable the provision of high quality and patient-centred clinical care within the surgeries. The appointment template varies at the different surgeries, but all GPs are expected to provide care for urgent and routine consultations through a mix of face to face consultations, telephone consultations, visits and sharing in the work of the duty team.

Clinical sessions should take place at the surgery unless there are exceptional circumstances. Lead GPs will be responsible for a fair share distribution of admin (be this related to their list or where it is distributed equally amongst those present) and will carry a patient list size pro rata for the number of sessions they are working.

Clinical leadership/quality improvement session

Lead GPs provide senior clinical leadership to their practice team in addition to the provision of clinical sessions. We recognise that developing expertise in clinical and non-clinical areas brings benefit to patients, the practices and NCPC as well as providing job satisfaction.
