The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
1. Description of Services
1.1 General Scope of Responsibilities:
1.1.1 The Religious Education (RE) Coordinator for the RAF Mildenhall Protestant Community
plans, coordinates, and implements religious education for the RAF Community,
in accordance with the 48 FW Airman Ministry Plan. The coordinator serves as the primary RE
resource contact, acts as the advisor and coordinator of the day-to-day operations of the RE
program, and administers the Protestant religious education of United States Protestant military
members, dependents and other community members and non-members.
1.1.2 The coordinator shall promote an atmosphere of religious sensitivity to all Air Force
personnel participating in chapel programs. However, no form of coercion shall be employed by
the coordinator or their employees to cause USAF personnel or their family members to conform to
a particular religious denomination or faith group either directly or indirectly. The coordinator shall
ensure that all key leaders and volunteers comply with this no-coercion policy. Respect for other
religious faith groups shall be maintained.
1.1.3 The coordinator shall design and implement religious education programming for adults,
youth, and children, and will assist in building a spiritual foundation. Programs may include, but
are not limited to:
Sunday school, small group studies, mid-week spiritual formation events, and
seasonal or annual events such as Vacation Bible School or similar.
1.1.4 The coordinator shall also be responsible for recruiting, training and scheduling teachers,
helpers, childcare workers, or other volunteers for Religious Education Programs. In the event
that RE teachers are not available, the coordinator may be required to teach the approved
curriculum. The Wing Chaplain is the approval authority for all curriculum.
1.1.5 The coordinator shall be responsible for Protestant religious based retreats and events to
include planning, execution, and after action reports. These events may be in line with the
Preservation of the Force and Families (POTFF) initiative to help with improving the well-being
of Airmen and their families. In addition, to the POTFF initiatives, the coordinator may plan and
execute Ecumenical retreats and events in coordination with other faith group religious education
coordinators.
1.1.6 The coordinator shall manage the day-to-day operations of the Protestant RE program, such
as, but not limited to: recruiting, training, assigning, and overseeing teachers, helpers, substitutes,
and other volunteers in the RE program. The coordinator shall also inform the Lead Protestant
Chaplain or designated representative of any needs, issues or concerns with the program.
1.1.7 The coordinator will coordinate with ministry leaders for Men’s, Women’s, Youth, or other
applicable ministries (per the Airman Ministry Plan) to gather, disseminate, and help publicize
program/event information, and connect people with the age/gender appropriate spiritual
formation resources. The coordinator shall research and maintain teacher/facilitator training
resources and provide training when required.
1.2. Period of Performance/ Place of Performance
1.2.1 This requirement calls for support at RAF Mildenhall, United Kingdom (UK).
1.5.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Religious Education Coordinator coordinator shall:
1.5.1. Develop, schedule, implement and monitor all Protestant Religious Education (RE)
programs and activities. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting in the evaluation of the
Protestant RE Program and its processes, coordinating volunteer support for any RE related
programs, and planning and implementing improvements for program development with the
approval of the Lead Protestant Chaplain. Examples of specific programs include:
Children’s
RE, Men’s and/or Women’s RE programs, Bible Studies, Vacation Bible School (VBS),
Volunteer Appreciation, and other programs as identified in by Lead Protestant Chaplain.
