The client, a respected educational institution in Scarisbrick, Lancashire, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part‑time SEND Teaching Assistant for its Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) team. This role offers the chance to support young children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and help them thrive.
The successful candidate will work closely with the EYFS team to provide personalised support, helping children develop social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills. You will support their learning through one‑to‑one, group and play activities, and contribute to an inclusive, nurturing environment.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with the EYFS team to create and implement individualised support plans for children with SEND.
- Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group support, adapting activities and resources to meet individual needs.
- Monitor and record children’s progress, sharing observations with the EYFS team and parents.
- Assist in preparing learning materials and resources that are accessible and engaging.
- Support children during play, lunch and outdoor activities, encouraging social interaction and well‑being.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, inclusive learning environment that celebrates diversity.
- Passion for working with young children and supporting those with SEND.
- Relevant qualifications in early years education or special educational needs (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3, CACHE, or equivalent).
- Experience in an early years setting, preferably with SEND participation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build relationships with children, families and colleagues.
- Patient, empathetic and adaptable teaching approach.
- Knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and commitment to inclusive education.
- Strong organisational and time‑management skills, able to prioritise tasks effectively.
