English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Lecturer at GEDU Global Education – Birmingham (On‑Site). Department:
Academic. Salary: £51,000 – Full‑time, permanent (40 hrs per week). Our vision:

The role:

We are seeking full‑time Study Skills Lecturers who collaborate with subject lecturers to develop and teach study skills for a range of HE programmes (Foundation to Masters’ level) across our BSU, UoS and OBU partnerships. Responsibilities include improving English language, numeracy, organisational, presentation, digital literacy, IT, reading, writing and higher‑order research skills. The delivery model requires flexibility to teach weekdays, evenings and weekends.

What

You'll Be Doing
  • Designing and documenting bespoke courses, digital resources, workshop plans and schemes of work to develop study skills in the curricula.
  • Delivering, evaluating and improving teaching to enhance the quality of learning and overall student experience in line with the GBS Learning and Teaching strategy.
  • Providing feedback on individual and class progress in academic writing and other study skills.
  • Providing tutorial consultations, constructive comments, explaining where work falls short of assessment criteria and suggesting improvement strategies.
  • Recording details from appointments for statistical and quality purposes and referring students to other services as appropriate.
  • Engaging with VLE and research resources to facilitate student learning through online resources and activities.
  • Contributing to GBS quality assurance systems and processes.
About You
  • Master's degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable).
  • Previous UK HE lecturing experience in the subject area.
  • Successful track record of teaching adult learners from diverse backgrounds on HE programmes.
  • Proven experience providing individual and group study‑skills support for identified learning needs.
  • Willingness to lead a specific literacy‑development area such as reading, writing, critical thinking, numeracy, digital skills, research skills, project and dissertation support, or peer‑assisted learning.
  • Demonstrated high level of digital literacy and advanced communication skills.
Desirable
  • Expertise in digital educational resources development, course design and curriculum development.
  • DELTA qualification.
  • Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme within probation and complete within three years), or Fellowship of the HEA (or international equivalent).
