Overview
Prospero Teaching is seeking a compassionate and flexible Learning Mentor to support students within a specialist alternative provision at a secondary school in Southsea. This full-time role offers a rewarding opportunity to work closely with KS3 and KS4 learners who thrive in a personalised and nurturing educational setting. This position is offered on a full-time basis, with the potential to transition into a permanent role.
Role- As an Alternative Provision Learning Mentor, you'll play a vital role in helping young people re-engage with education. Working alongside teaching staff, you'll support the delivery of functional English, Maths, and Science, while fostering emotional well-being, resilience, and personal development.
- Support the delivery of functional English, Maths, and Science for KS3/KS4 students.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment.
- Provide tailored support for students with SEMH, autism, ADHD, and other additional needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, families, and external agencies.
- Monitor student progress and contribute to individual learning plans.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Encourage confidence, independence, and self-esteem.
- Experience working with young people in alternative provision, SEN, or mainstream settings.
- Strong understanding of behaviour support and differentiated learning strategies.
- A calm, empathetic, and adaptable approach to engagement.
- Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced child DBS certificate (or willingness to apply).
- References available upon request.
- Up-to-date safeguarding training (or willingness to complete).
- Free, accredited CPD courses including safeguarding and behaviour management.
- Access to our in-house Training and Development Team.
- Ongoing support throughout your placement.
