Attendance Officer

Chilwell School is seeking a dedicated and proactive Attendance Officer to join our team. This vital role supports the school’s mission to raise achievement by improving attendance and punctuality, ensuring all pupils benefit fully from their education.

As Attendance Officer, you will provide a specialist service to monitor and promote school attendance, manage Student Services and build positive relationships with pupils and their families. The role involves home visits, liaising with external agencies and working closely with school staff to tackle persistent absence and support pupil wellbeing.

• Lead strategies to improve school attendance and punctuality
• Line manage Student Services staff
• Investigate and respond to persistent absences, including home visits and meetings
• Maintain accurate attendance records and provide detailed reports to senior leaders
• Collaborate with families to promote positive attitudes towards education and statutory responsibilities
• Support pupils individually and in groups to improve attendance and confidence
• Oversee health care plan related documentation
• Work closely with safeguarding teams and external professionals
• Contribute to the wider school ethos and pupil support activities
