About the School
We are supporting a well-established independent military boarding school in Dunblane, funded by the Ministry of Defence and dedicated to educating children of UK Armed Forces personnel. The school is known for its strong pastoral care, disciplined but nurturing environment, and rich ceremonial and cultural traditions. It operates within the Scottish education system and is officially classed as an independent school.
The campus covers 45 acres of countryside, providing exceptional facilities for teaching and extracurricular activities. The school emphasises stability, community, and academic excellence, following the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence.
The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Spanish Teacher to join the school from August 2026 on a one-year maternity cover contract. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality Modern Languages teaching, with a focus on Spanish, across the secondary age range.
You will be joining a supportive, collaborative academic team in a school that values high standards, professional commitment, and a student-centred approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and effective Spanish lessons aligned with the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence.
- Teach across a range of secondary year groups (ages 10-18).
- Prepare pupils for National Qualifications (Nat 4-5), Highers and, where appropriate, Advanced Highers.
- Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress.
- Contribute to departmental planning, curriculum development, and wider school initiatives.
- Support the pastoral and academic ethos of a boarding school environment.
- Maintain a high standard of classroom practice and professional conduct.
Requirements
- GTCS registration (or eligibility to register before August 2026).
- Qualified Teacher Status with a specialism in Spanish / Modern Languages.
- Experience teaching within the Scottish system is desirable but not essential.
- Strong subject knowledge and the ability to inspire and motivate pupils.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and supporting the wellbeing of young people.
