The Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Highland Dance Teacher to join the school's ceremonial and performing arts team. The successful candidate will lead Highland Dance tuition across the school, preparing pupils for performances, competitions, and a range of ceremonial events.
This role offers the opportunity to work in a culturally rich environment where Scottish tradition plays a central part in school identity.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Highland Dance to pupils aged 10-18 at all ability levels.
- Prepare students for performances, competitions, and key school ceremonies.
- Collaborate closely with the school's piping, drumming, and performing arts staff.
- Support highly regarded dance traditions showcased at regular ceremonial events and national/international performances.
- Contribute to extracurricular rehearsals and school activities, including some weekend commitments.
- Maintain a disciplined, positive, and supportive learning environment.
Requirements
- Strong background in Highland Dance (teaching or advanced performance experience).
- Knowledge of traditional Scottish dance styles and performance standards.
- Excellent communication and group-instruction skills (QTS not required).
- Ability to motivate, encourage, and challenge pupils effectively.
- Willingness to contribute to the wider life of a boarding school community.
