Do you love working with young people? Confident, energetic and passionate about using sport to build confidence and improve behaviour? We’re looking for a Sports Development Mentor to support students aged 11–16 at a welcoming secondary school in Pontypool.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives on keeping pupils active, focused and engaged. You’ll use sport, structure and positive mentoring to help students overcome barriers and make real progress — both in and out of the classroom.
⭐ What You’ll be doing:- Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups
- Use sport, games and physical activity to encourage positive behaviour
- Help students refocus, regulate emotions and stay engaged
- Build strong, supportive relationships
- Work closely with teachers and pastoral teams
- Experience with young people & children (11-18 desired)
- Sports coaching / fitness instruction
- Youth work or mentoring
- Outdoor activity leadership
- Care or support roles
- Confident and approachable
- Resilient and calm under pressure
- Passionate about helping young people succeed
- Comfortable supporting challenging behaviour
- Excited to bring your love of sport into the classroom!

Education Workforce Council (EWC) - An Enhanced DBSon the Update Service
- At least two professional referencescovering the past 24 months

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
