Humanities Teacher

We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Humanities Teacher to work in a secondary school setting in the Burry Port area. This role is due to start after Easter and will continue into the next academic year.

The position will be offered through an education agency and is subject to the availability of work.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality Humanities lessons (such as History, Geography and/or Religious Studies) to pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will play a key role in supporting pupils’ academic progress while maintaining high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement.

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Humanities lessons in line with the national curriculum
• Assess, mark, and provide feedback on pupils’ work to support progress
• Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including those with additional needs
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
• Monitor pupil progress and contribute to tracking and reporting where required
• Work collaboratively with departmental staff and wider school teams
• Fulfil pastoral responsibilities as appropriate, including supporting pupils’ wellbeing
• Adhere to safeguarding policies and school procedures at all times

• Is passionate about Humanities and able to inspire pupils through engaging teaching
• Has strong classroom management skills and clear expectations for behaviour
• Is flexible, reliable, and able to adapt to different school environments
• Communicates effectively with pupils, staff, and parents where required
• Is committed to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
• Degree in a Humanities-related subject (or closely related field)
• Experience teaching Humanities at secondary level (KS3 and/or KS4)
• Up-to-date knowledge of the UK secondary curriculum
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

This role would suit an experienced teacher or a confident ECT looking for a longer-term opportunity within a supportive school environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
