Teacher in Charge of PsychologyDowne House is seeking an inspiring Teacher in Charge of Psychology to join our team from September 2026, on a full or part time basis. We are a leading independent boarding school for girls aged 11-18, based in the village of Cold Ash, Berkshire. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive faculty and to play a key role in further developing Psychology as a thriving Sixth Form subject choice.
A-Level Psychology was introduced at the School in September 2022 and has now become an established and successful department. We currently deliver the AQA Psychology specification. The role will involve leading and managing the teaching of Psychology at A Level, developing stimulating schemes of work, raising the profile of Psychology as a subject across the School and contributing to enrichment activities.
The postholder will also contribute to teaching the ‘Lyceum Learning’ programme (refer to the candidate pack for information) and act as an Academic Tutor for a small group of pupils, to support their pastoral care and academic progress.
The successful candidate will be an experienced and enthusiastic teacher of Psychology, with the confidence and vision to contribute to curriculum development and to promote the subject across the wider school community.
