Job Title: SEN Science Teacher
Location:
Penny Tree School, Birmingham, B30 3ES

Hours: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday 8.00am - 4.00pm
Salary:
Up to £42,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)

Contract:
Permanent Term Time Only

At Penny Tree School , we're looking for an exceptional SEN Science Teacher to join our growing team and help shape brighter futures for young people with diverse and complex needs. This is more than a teaching role - it's an opportunity to spark curiosity, build confidence and empower pupils to achieve far more than they ever thought possible.

As our SEN Science Teacher, you'll deliver inspiring and highly personalised Science lessons that bring learning to life. Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, you'll help pupils develop scientific knowledge, critical thinking skills and confidence while supporting their social, emotional and personal development.

You'll create engaging learning experiences that encourage exploration, curiosity and achievement, helping every pupil overcome barriers and discover their potential.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated Science lessons up to GCSE level
  • Creating a safe, nurturing and structured learning environment where pupils can thrive
  • Monitoring, assessing and reporting on progress, achievement and outcomes
  • Developing and reviewing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Behaviour Plans and personalised learning programmes
  • Leading and contributing to the development of Science across the school
  • Working collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants, therapists, tutors and families
  • Adapting teaching approaches to meet a wide range of learning needs and abilities
  • Supporting pupils to develop confidence, independence and emotional resilience

What you'll bring

  • QTS/QTLS with strong subject knowledge in Science.
  • Has experience or a genuine passion for working with students with SEN.
  • Brings creativity, patience and adaptability to every lesson.
  • Communicates clearly and works well as part of a multi disciplinary team.
  • Is committed to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding, wellbeing and positive behaviour support.

Our new Options Autism school - Penny Tree - will have capacity for up to 100 pupils and is expected to open for students in the near future.
