Overview
Teaching Assistant with a medical background essential.
Location:
Spilsby (PE23). Pay: 105-118 per day.
Contract:
Full-Time, Long-Term.
Hours:
Monday to Friday. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students with complex needs in a nurturing and highly specialised educational environment.
Communication is at the heart of everything the school does. They believe that every student deserves a voice and the opportunity to participate fully in school life and the wider community. Through a Total Communication Approach, students are supported using a range of personalised methods including Makaton, PECS, Core Boards, Eye Gaze Technology, Switches, communication apps, speech and vocalisation. The school also delivers specialist interventions such as Colourful Semantics, Lego Therapy, Thera Lego, Intensive Interaction, Rebound Therapy and Bucket Time, helping students develop communication, social and learning skills.
The RoleYou will work closely with teaching staff, therapists and healthcare professionals to support students with complex medical and communication needs, ensuring they can access learning safely and effectively.
Responsibilities- Support students with complex medical and communication needs in accessing learning.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists and healthcare professionals.
- Ensure safeguarding and wellbeing of students in line with school policies.
- Candidates must have experience and/or training in:
- Tracheostomy Care - both theory and practical experience
- Moving and Handling - both theory and practical training
- Jejunostomy Feeding Pump Management
- Gastrostomy (PEG/Button) Care and Feeding
- Vagus Nerve Stimulator (VNS) Awareness and Support
- Has a healthcare, nursing, care, support work, therapy assistant or similar medical background
- Is confident supporting students with complex medical needs
- Has a patient, caring and proactive approach
- Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Is committed to helping every student achieve their full potential
- Competitive daily pay of 105-118
- Full-time, long-term position
