This supportive role in a smaller school is ideal for Early Career Teachers or for more experienced teachers looking to test the waters working in a mixed class.
Our SchoolGoathland Primary School is an attractive and dynamic school catering for children aged from 3 to 11. A charming, historic village school built in the 1808 and extended in the 1970s, the school building is beautifully situated in the midst of stunning moorlands, yet only a few minutes’ drive from the main A169 Whitby to Pickering road.
We have a strong community spirit and utilise the wonder local amenities and activities such as the village hall and village shows, The Goathland Hut Community Hub, Goathland Station and the Danby Lodge National Park Centre, to name a few.
We are a small, nurturing school with 21 pupils on roll, organised into two mixed-age classes and a vibrant nursery. Our school is led by our dedicated Headteacher, Teacher-in-Charge, SENDCo, and our Administrator — the backbone of our school — keeping everything running smoothly.
We have two committed Class Teachers who are supported by our wonderful Teaching Assistants, creating a warm and supportive learning environment for all our children.
And of course, an important member of our team is our much‑loved school dog, Dash, who brings joy and comfort to pupils and staff alike.
Our small school, in a unique location with experienced, dedicated staff, is a wonderful place for children to grow and learn. Children are known as individuals and staff build excellent relationships with families. The combination of high expectations and individual nurturing means that children are inspired to do their best, resulting in great educational outcomes and happy children.
In 1877 our school was gifted a parcel of land, which is now used as our Forest School site. The site has an abundance of indigenous plants, hedges, oak trees and shrubs; as well as wildlife ponds and wetland areas for frogs, toads, newts and aquatic insects. Wildflower seeds are scattered to attract butterflies and encourage a greater diversity of insects and other wildlife.
Forest School is an inspirational process, which offers ALL learners, regardless of academic ability, regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment. It enhances learning across the curriculum by offering opportunities to explore and extend classroom learning and supports our school vision by fostering an appreciation of our unique local area.
We are looking for a teacher to join our Base 1 Class, this mixed class includes reception, year 1 and year 2.
Base 1 is a wonderful class to be part of. Our older children set fantastic examples for learning for our younger children. Our children have been busy exploring the world through the adventures of famous explorers, creating art and music, investigating nature, designing moving creations, and bringing their learning to life through stories, outdoor experiences, and hands-on discovery.
Your role is key in laying the vital foundations that inspire and prepare pupils for their exciting journey into Key Stage Two.
With the support of two talented teaching assistants and a smaller school setting surrounded by beautiful scenery, this role offers a genuinely nurturing and rewarding working environment.
