Adjunct Faculty – Social Work – Croughton, United Kingdom

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on‑site in the United Kingdom for the Social Work program.

This position is a field‑focused, practice‑based role supporting students in their field placements. Responsibilities include experiential instruction, supervision support, and applied mentorship tied to CSWE field education outcomes, rather than traditional classroom‑based course instruction.

Required

Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited institution and an active LCSW.
  • At least two years post‑master’s professional experience in Social Work.
  • Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred.
  • Local applicants only; adjunct faculty positions are not eligible for UMGC sponsored logistical support. Applicants must maintain their own legal status in the country in which they apply to teach.

Role Responsibilities
  • Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed, conveying genuine enthusiasm for their learning.
  • Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning through problem‑ and project‑based learning demonstrations.
  • Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for assessment of student work and acknowledging student accomplishments.
  • Demonstrate relevant and current subject‑matter expertise, helping students connect concepts across their academic program.
  • Provide feedback to program chair on possible curricular improvements.
The Social Work Program

The social work program is a CSWE accredited program offered by Salisbury University and administered by UMGC Europe. Faculty are approved by Salisbury University and hired by UMGC Europe. Faculty teach in both face‑to‑face and online environments using Canvas.

Position and Salary

Position will remain open until filled.

Salary commensurate with experience.

Hiring Range by Degree:
Non‑PhD Step 1 $ 903 – Step 16 $ 1,173 per credit hour. PhD Step 1 $ 931 – Step 16 $ 1,215 per credit hour.
