Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate and proactive Inclusion Support Mentor to join a welcoming secondary school in Rubery. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and helping them successfully reintegrate into mainstream education.
The role will focus on working with students who require additional pastoral, behavioural, or emotional support, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop the skills and confidence needed to thrive in the classroom.
About the Role
Working closely with the Inclusion Team, pastoral staff, SENCo, and teaching staff, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Providing targeted support to students who are at risk of disengaging from education
Working on a 1:1 and small-group basis to improve behaviour, attendance, and engagement
Supporting pupils in developing strategies to regulate emotions and manage behaviour positively
Delivering interventions focused on resilience, self-esteem, and social skills
Assisting students during periods of transition back into mainstream lessons
Building strong relationships with pupils to promote trust, confidence, and positive outcomes
Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching and pastoral staff
Working collaboratively with families and external agencies where appropriate
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience working with secondary-aged pupils in an educational, youth work, or pastoral setting
Strong understanding of behaviour management and inclusion strategies
Patient, nurturing, and committed to supporting young people
Confident working with pupils who may present with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
Able to build positive relationships while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries
Resilient, adaptable, and solution-focused in challenging situations
Committed to a long-term role and making a lasting impact on students' lives
