Location: Hollins
SENCo with Teaching Responsibility – Mersey Drive Primary School The Role
The successful candidate will:
- Provide strategic leadership of SEND and inclusion across the school
- Champion a culture of high expectations and equity for all pupils
- Lead the identification of barriers to learning and coordinate effective provision
- Support staff to deliver high-quality adaptive teaching and inclusive classroom practice
- Ensure pupils with SEND and vulnerable learners are supported to achieve, belong and thrive within school life
- Work collaboratively with teachers, families and external professionals to secure ambitious outcomes
- Oversee EHCP processes, annual reviews, provision mapping and graduated approaches
- Analyse attendance, behaviour, pastoral and attainment information to evaluate impact and identify priorities
- Contribute to whole-school improvement and self-evaluation linked to the new Ofsted inclusion framework
- Model excellent inclusive classroom practice through teaching responsibilities within the role
- Support staff development and coaching to strengthen inclusive practice across the curriculum
- Promote positive relationships, emotional wellbeing and a sense of belonging for all pupils
The role includes teaching responsibility and would suit someone who values remaining closely connected to classroom practice and understands the importance of modelling high-quality inclusive teaching.
We are looking for someone who- Is an excellent classroom practitioner with consistently high expectations
- Has a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive education
- Is passionate about improving outcomes for disadvantaged and vulnerable pupils
- Understands the importance of high-quality inclusive teaching as the foundation of effective SEND provision
- Can lead, inspire and support colleagues effectively
- Builds strong relationships with pupils, families and external agencies
- Is organised, reflective, resilient and solution-focused
- Understands the importance of safeguarding, attendance, wellbeing and belonging within inclusion
- Has experience of working with pupils with a range of SEND needs
- Holds the National Award for SEN Coordination (or is willing to work towards it)
- Wonderful children who are enthusiastic, caring and eager to learn
