Our School

Here at Dacre Braithwaite CE VA Primary School we offer a vibrant and inspirational school in an idyllic setting in the heart of Nidderdale. We work relentlessly to ensure that every child in our school receives the best education and the best support to meet their needs.

Our vision is very much about Living Life to the Full by developing the skills that are essential to our children becoming upstanding members of the community and trying their best in whatever they are doing. We believe that when you develop the personal characteristics for learning first, children have the confidence to shine.

Our school is part of a family of schools which belong to the Leeds Diocesan Learning Trust. The Trust has been established as a passionate commitment to support church and community schools across the Diocese of Leeds. Bringing together the children, staff and governors in our schools and the central team and directors on the Trust Board, we are proud to ‘love, live and work together’ to support the delivery of quality education.

Working with children is the best job in the world and as a school we encourage all staff to engage fully in the education of our young folk, in a wide variety of ways

We are looking to appoint a motivated After School Club Leader to create engaging activities for children aged 4 – 11. You will have the opportunity to independently deliver and supervise activities with the full support of the Headteacher to help with planning and resourcing activities.

We are looking for:

Individuals with experience of working with children, whether in play work, childcare, or educational settings. If you are passionate about creating fun, safe, and enriching experiences for children, we would love to hear from you.

Key Duties
  • Welcome children warmly and keep accurate records of attendance so we always know who is joining the session.
  • Deliver engaging activities, including safe, enjoyable, and imaginative games, crafts, and projects that encourage participation and enjoyment. (Support with planning and resources will be provided by the staff team)
  • Prepare healthy snacks and refreshments, ensuring food hygiene standards are maintained alongside setup and tidying responsibilities.
  • Create an inviting and organised environment with activities and resources prepared ready for each session.
  • Provide calm and caring support, including basic first aid for minor bumps and scrapes.
  • Support children with practical tasks, organisation of belongings, and general wellbeing throughout the session.
  • Maintain clear supervision and promote a safe, positive, and inclusive environment where all children feel happy and secure.
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, providing high-quality childcare
  • An understanding of food hygiene requirements
  • The ability to plan and deliver safe, age-appropriate activities
  • Experience of working with children in a play work, childcare, or educational setting
  • A current first aid certificate is desirable but training will be provided by school if not in possession of a valid certificate.
We can offer you:

A warm, happy school where we value each individual child and the whole school community;

A dedicated supportive staff team who strive to do the best they can for the children and the school;

Happy, enthusiastic and well-behaved children;

An opportunity for you to thrive, accessing high quality support, training and resources.

Additional hours may be available.

Additional optional roles are being advertised separately, namely Midday Supervisory Assistant (5 hours per week) and Administrator (30 hours per week)

We are committed to meeting the needs of our diverse community and aim to have a workforce reflecting this diversity.

We are also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults. We have a robust Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy (attached), and all staff will receive training relevant to their role at induction and throughout employment at the school. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service criminal records check for work with children.
