Subject Mentor | Barking & Dagenham | September 2026 Are you a high-achieving graduate considering a career in secondary teaching? Do you want to gain invaluable classroom experience before embarking on teacher training? A welcoming secondary school in Barking & Dagenham is looking for enthusiastic Subject Mentors to join their team on a full-time basis, supporting students aged 11-16 through tailored academic support and targeted interventions.

Earn up to £550 per week Full-time, term-time only position Gain valuable experience working with students across KS3 and KS4 Support students with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and SEMH needs Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions within your subject specialism Work alongside experienced teachers and Heads of Department Excellent preparation for PGCE, School Direct, or salaried teacher training routes Join a supportive school with a strong focus on staff development Looking for a Subject Mentor who Holds a degree in English, Maths, Science, Humanities, Languages, or a related subject Has previous experience working with young people through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or voluntary work Is passionate about their subject and inspiring the next generation Can support students of varying abilities, including those with additional learning needs Has ambitions to become a secondary school teacher Is confident, resilient, and eager to gain classroom experience As a Subject Mentor, you will work closely with students both inside and outside the classroom, helping to raise attainment, build confidence, and support learning.

You will provide targeted intervention sessions, assist teachers in lessons, and help students overcome barriers to academic success.
