Hethersett Academy is seeking a reliable, dynamic and responsible person to work as a SEND Manager. This is an important role at our school as the support and outcomes for our students with special educational needs are crucial. The post holder will be instrumental in developing SEND provision across the school in conjunction with the SENDCO.
What You’ll Be Doing- Support the implementation of a broad, balanced and inclusive curriculum for students with SEND.
- Promote appropriate provision for students with Special Educational Needs as part of the high standards for teaching and learning and achievement and progress for students with SEND.
- Manage EHCP processes, including applications for needs assessment, annual reviews and consultations.
- Lead and support the provision of CPD for staff to help them deliver interventions and support sessions in line with school/provider expectations as required.
- Team leadership:
Ability to lead, motivate, and support a team of SEND staff (TAs, LSAs, SEN teachers) to deliver high‑quality provision. - Delegation and workload management:
Skilled in assigning tasks effectively and ensuring staff capacity is used efficiently. - Performance management:
Experience conducting appraisals, setting targets, and supporting professional development. - Communication:
Excellent interpersonal skills for liaising with staff, parents, governors, and external agencies. - Conflict resolution:
Ability to handle sensitive situations calmly and fairly within a team. - Coaching and mentoring:
Supporting the development of TAs and teachers to improve SEND practice. - Parent partnership:
Building positive relationships with parents and carers through empathy and transparency. - Multi‑agency working:
Liaising effectively with Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, CAMHS, etc. - Good numeracy and literacy skills/GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English.
- Experience of working with children with special educational needs.
- Understanding of learning difficulties and strategies to support students learning.
- Experience of working with or caring for children of relevant age.
- Experience of working in partnership with parents.
- Full competence in using ICT.
- Appropriate qualifications/significant experience working with SEN students.
- Specialist skills/training in curriculum or learning area e.g. ASD, SEN, SEMH.
- Experience of working in a school.
