SEND Teaching Assistant - Bury
We are seeking a committed and adaptable SEND Teaching Assistant to support a wide range of Special Educational Needs in Bury on a full-time basis, starting ASAP.
You will be supporting pupils with a wide range of complex needs in a structured, nurturing and inclusive environment where every young person is supported to thrive.
You will be confident working with a variety of SEND across different age groups. Pupils present with complex sensory and physical needs, significant cognitive delay, autism, sensory processing needs, speech and communication needs, ADHD, SEMH and behaviours that may challenge. You will work as part of an experienced and supportive team to help pupils access learning, develop communication and build independence.
The role will be varied and may involve supporting individual pupils, assisting with sensory‑based learning, helping with movement and mobility, using communication systems and promoting emotional regulation throughout the day. Flexibility and resilience are essential.
Key Responsibilities- Provide tailored support for pupils with a wide range of complex needs
- Follow individual learning plans, communication strategies and regulation approaches
- Use visual supports and structured routines to help pupils engage
- Support pupils with sensory, physical or medical needs
- Assist with personal care where required
- Promote positive behaviour, independence and pupil wellbeing
- Work closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff
We welcome applications from experienced SEND practitioners and candidates with transferable skills.
- Special schools or alternative provisions
- Residential support or care settings
- Support Work, Youth Work or Community Support
- SEMH or CAMHS environments
- Psychology or related degree backgrounds

- Full availability Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm
- A genuine interest in SEND and child development
- Willingness to complete safeguarding and vetting checks
- Enthusiasm for working within a specialist school environment
