We are currently seeking a creative, engaging and dedicated individual to join our team as a Training Advisor – Childcare.
The team is built up of individuals who have significant experience and expertise in their vocational areas. This experience allows them to deliver expert advice and guidance on pathways into their industries and the career opportunities that young people may not be aware of. Industry‑focused practical activities enhance learner engagement while preparing young people for careers in their chosen sector, equipping them with the skills needed to develop strong CVs.
Training Advisors further support this by embedding employability skills throughout our vocational courses, helping learners build confidence, professionalism and workplace readiness.
The team currently delivers courses at Key Stage 4 across all schools in Neath Port Talbot. As a Training Advisor – Childcare, you will be delivering vocationally based courses throughout NPT schools at Key Stage
4. These courses will help to inspire learners in choosing future career pathways and to help them understand the career opportunities that exist for them when they leave school. You will be responsible for shaping the childcare qualification to meet the standards set by Agored Cymru and for delivering some units of the Travel and Tourism course. You will work closely with school leads to ensure that learners’ needs are met during delivery of their qualifications and will also inspire our learners, giving details of working in the vocational sector and/or bringing in speakers or visits to enhance classroom teaching.
- Design a suitable Childcare course that is practically based and meets the assessment requirements of the awarding body.
- Produce all teaching and assessment materials that meet the standards set by the IQA, including schemes of work and lesson plans.
- Deliver Childcare courses that meet the standards required of the Awarding body and the needs of the learners.
- Track learner outcomes to ensure learners remain on course to gain the qualification and follow procedures and guidelines if they are not going to succeed.
- Attend standardisation and moderation meetings as required.
- Devise and apply a range of assessment activities and assess all learner work.
- Experience working within a childcare/early years setting or a Travel and Tourism setting.
- Experience of working with young people and/or adults in a school/educational or work‑based setting.
- Experience of delivering class‑based theory and practice sessions against qualifications/courses.
- Understanding of vocational learning programmes and the systems and processes in delivering courses to learners and qualifications.
- Ability to motivate young people and adults involved in the learning process and set and monitor learner targets.
- In possession of, or working towards, A1 and V1 awards/TAQA and/or verifier awards or equivalent.
- Possess NVQ Level 4 in advice and guidance.
- Possess Further Education Teaching Certificate or equivalent (such as PGCE/PTTLS).

Wales Qualifications and/or practitioners certificate GCSE (or equivalent/higher) in Maths and English grade C and above/Level 2.
