About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in the M14 area of Manchester. This role is specifically focused on supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

You will work closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to provide tailored pastoral and academic support, helping vulnerable children overcome barriers to learning, manage their emotions, and thrive in a mainstream school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement personalized behavior plans and de-escalation strategies to maintain a positive learning environment.

  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive space where pupils feel understood and supported.

  • Assist the class teacher with differentiated learning activities, ensuring lessons are accessible.

  • Monitor, record, and report on pupils' emotional and academic progress to the SENDCo and parents.

Requirements & Experience

  • Team Teach, MAPA, or similar de-escalation training is highly desirable (but not essential).

  • A patient, calm demeanor with excellent communication and active listening skills.

  • An understanding of trauma-informed practice or nurture-based interventions is a distinct advantage.

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).

What the School Offers
  • A highly supportive and collaborative staff team and leadership.

  • Excellent professional development and regular safeguarding/SEND training.

  • A welcoming school community with a strong focus on staff and pupil wellbeing.

  • Convenient transport links across Manchester (located in the M14 postcode).
