Please note that the advertised salary for this position is subject to the pending 2026/2027 national pay award. The final salary will be adjusted accordingly once this has been agreed. This is a temporary role covering maternity leave.
About the RoleWe are looking to recruit an Education Inclusion Officer to join our Education Inclusion Service on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave. The role supports schools, children and their families in ensuring that all pupils attend school regularly and ensures the authority and its schools adhere to their statutory responsibilities with regard to school attendance and related matters.
Responsibilities- Challenge and support individual schools regarding pupil attendance and advise on best practice for parents to fulfil their legal duty with regard to the education of their child (ren).
- Undertake casework with identified pupils and work with other departments and agencies as required.
- Carry out a specialist area of work on behalf of the service as agreed with the line manager.
- Analyse data and write reports.
- Work effectively within a multi‑agency context.
- Apply legal interventions if necessary and challenge attitudes that may compromise a child's right to a full and efficient education.
- Degree level fluency in Welsh.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work on own initiative, prioritise workload, and be well‑organised.
- Ability to analyse data and produce clear reports.
- Strong capacity to challenge schools on the implementation of good practice.
- Effective working within a multi‑agency context.
