Description

Coleg Sir Gâr and Coleg Ceredigion are seeking to appoint an inspirational, and learner‑focused leader to head our Health, Childcare and Computing provision, based at Graig campus. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educational leader to shape and lead a diverse and innovative curriculum area, ensuring outstanding teaching, learning and assessment whilst driving learner achievement, progression and success. As Head of Health, Childcare and Computing, you will provide effective operational leadership across a broad portfolio of programmes, working collaboratively with curriculum teams, employers, universities and key stakeholders to ensure our provision continues to meet the needs of learners, industry and the wider community.

You will play a pivotal role in leading curriculum teams to deliver high‑quality education, drive continuous improvement and ensure an outstanding learner experience that enables every learner to achieve their potential.

What you will be doing
  • Provide effective operational leadership for the Health, Childcare and Computing department.
  • Lead and manage curriculum teams to deliver high‑quality teaching, learning and assessment that enables learners to achieve their full potential.
  • Drive continuous improvement through effective quality assurance, self‑assessment, performance monitoring and quality improvement planning.
  • Monitor learner recruitment, attendance, retention, achievement and progression, implementing targeted interventions where required.
  • Lead curriculum planning and development, ensuring programmes respond to employer demand, regional priorities and Welsh Government and Medr strategic objectives.
  • Lead and support staff through effective performance management, coaching and professional development.
  • Oversee operational aspects of curriculum delivery, including staffing, timetabling, resource planning and budget management.
  • Champion inclusive practice, equality, diversity and learner wellbeing, ensuring all learners receive the support they need to succeed.
  • Promote bilingualism and support the development of Welsh‑medium learning opportunities across the curriculum.
  • Contribute to whole‑college strategic priorities and cross‑college initiatives that enhance learner success and organisational performance.
What you will need

Welsh Language Requirements:

  • Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) – Level 0/1 Desirable
  • Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) – Level 0/1 Desirable

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a degree or equivalent qualification together with a recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has substantial experience of leading curriculum teams within an educational environment.
  • Demonstrates excellent organisational, operational and communication skills.
  • Can analyse performance data and use evidence to drive continuous improvement.
  • Has experience of managing budgets, resources and operational planning.
  • Has a strong understanding of current developments within Health, Childcare and/or Computing education, including employer, professional and industry requirements.
  • Is committed to delivering an outstanding learner experience, promoting equality, diversity, inclusion and learner wellbeing. Can work collaboratively with internal and external partners to develop innovative curriculum provision and progression pathways.
  • Is a professional, adaptable and forward‑thinking leader who is committed to continuous improvement and professional development.

Desirable experience includes working with higher education partnerships, professional registration and awarding bodies, curriculum innovation, and employer engagement within education.
