Kings Mill School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, adaptable, and caring Midday Supervisory Assistant to join our dedicated lunchtime team from September.

This rewarding role involves supporting and supervising students with a wide range of special educational needs during the lunchtime period, helping to ensure their safety, wellbeing, and enjoyment throughout the school day. The successful candidate will play an important part in creating a positive, nurturing, and inclusive environment for our pupils.

You will work as part of Kings Mill School’s experienced and supportive team, based either at our main school site or at our Sixth Form provision located on the Driffield School site.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a caring and patient nature.
  • Enjoys working with children and young people with special educational needs.
  • Is reliable, adaptable, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Can build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Is committed to supporting the wellbeing and development of all learners.

Previous experience of working with children or young people with special educational needs would be beneficial, although it is not essential. Full support, guidance, and training will be provided.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed. We encourage prospective applicants to come and meet our staff and see first‑hand the rewarding work carried out at Kings Mill School.

For an informal discussion about the post or to arrange a visit, please contact:
Lisa Brown, School Business Manager via phone or email.

Kings Mill School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We follow the principles of safer recruitment in accordance with the current Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a self‑declaration regarding any criminal record or information that may make them unsuitable to work with children, and an online search will be undertaken as part of the recruitment process.

Applicants must be able to explain any gaps in their employment or education history and demonstrate their legal right to work in the UK. All appointments are subject to satisfactory pre‑employment checks, including an Enhanced DBS check, references, and other relevant background checks. Further information about our safeguarding arrangements can be found in our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy, available on our website.

Online applications close on 30 August. Applications will be received at the school up until 9am on 31 August.

This school does not have the resources to send individual notifications to all applicants who are not shortlisted so if you have not been contacted within 2 weeks of the closing date you should assume you have been unsuccessful.

If selected for interview, an online search will be conducted for candidates. This is in line with KCSiE 2022.

DBS/Medical check

This post is subject to an enhanced DBS clearance check. The school is committed to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare. All members of staff are expected to share this commitment.
