We are currently recruiting Primary Supply Teachers to work across a range of primary schools in Derby.

We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and experienced teachers who can confidently step into different classrooms, deliver engaging lessons and create a positive learning environment for pupils.

QTS IS ESSENTIAL FOR THIS ROLE

To be considered for this position, candidates MUST hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have previous experience teaching in a primary school setting.

The Role

As a Primary Supply Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning across a range of primary school settings in Derby.

Depending on the school and assignment, you may be required to teach across different year groups and follow existing lesson plans or deliver your own engaging lessons.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering engaging and effective lessons in line with the school's curriculum and lesson plans.

  • Teaching pupils across the primary age range.

  • Taking responsibility for the class and maintaining a positive learning environment.

  • Managing classroom behaviour effectively and consistently.

  • Following school policies and procedures.

  • Adapting teaching approaches to meet the needs of individual pupils.

  • Supporting pupils with their learning, development and wellbeing.

  • Establishing positive relationships with pupils and encouraging a love of learning.

  • Assessing pupils' understanding and providing appropriate feedback where required.

  • Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, achievement and participation.

  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and other school staff.

  • Ensuring pupils remain safe and appropriately supervised throughout the school day.

  • Supporting safeguarding procedures and reporting concerns appropriately.

  • Completing any relevant classroom or administrative duties required by the school.

  • Leaving clear and appropriate handover information for the class teacher where required.

Essential Requirements

To be considered for this role, you MUST:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Have previous experience teaching within a primary school setting.

  • Have a strong understanding of the primary curriculum.

  • Have excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.

  • Be confident teaching pupils across different primary year groups.

  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Be reliable, punctual and professional.

  • Be adaptable and able to quickly settle into different school environments.

  • Have a genuine passion for teaching and supporting children's learning.

  • Have a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.

  • Be willing to undergo the necessary safeguarding and background checks.

Please note: QTS is essential for this role. Candidates without QTS will not be considered. Previous experience teaching within a primary school setting is also essential.

DBS Requirement

Due to the nature of working with children, all successful candidates will be required to complete the appropriate safeguarding and background checks.

Candidates who already hold a DBS on the Update Service are welcome to apply.

If you do not currently hold a suitable DBS, you must be willing to pay for and complete a new DBS check as part of the recruitment process.
