Teaching Assistant - Special Schools (Day-to-Day Supply)
Walsall Flexible Working Immediate Starts Available Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Support Worker looking for flexible work in specialist education?

Hays Education is working with a number of special schools across Walsall that require reliable and enthusiastic day-to-day support staff to help cover staff absences, sickness and training days.

These schools support pupils with a range of additional needs, including:

  • Autism (ASC)
  • Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)
  • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Communication and Interaction Needs
  • Complex Medical Needs

The Role As a Day-to-Day Teaching Assistant, no two days will be the same. You may be:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis
  • Working with small groups of learners
  • Assisting with personal care where required
  • Supporting communication using visuals, PECS or Makaton
  • Helping pupils access learning activities
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Working alongside teachers, therapists and support staff

What We're Looking For We would love to hear from candidates who have:

  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Experience with in special schools, mainstream schools, care settings, nurseries, residential homes or community support roles
  • A patient, nurturing and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
