Asap/Early October Destination Education are currently recruiting for an experienced Learning Mentor / Attendance Officer to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in East London. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and dedicated individual who is committed to improving children's attendance, wellbeing, engagement and educational outcomes. The successful candidate will join a supportive and collaborative school environment and will play an important role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, social development and emotional wellbeing.

About the Role As a Learning Mentor / Attendance Officer, you will have a varied role combining pastoral support, learning mentoring and attendance management . Your responsibilities will include:
Providing one-to-one mentoring and small-group support for targeted pupils. Supporting children who experience barriers to learning, social development and emotional wellbeing. Working with pupils presenting with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Building positive and effective relationships with pupils, parents and carers. Working alongside teachers to develop and implement individual pupil support plans. Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality. Identifying patterns of absence and lateness and taking appropriate action.

Analysing attendance data on a weekly and monthly basis to identify trends and pupils at risk of persistent absence. Contacting parents and carers regarding unexplained absences and attendance concerns. Leading attendance meetings with families and setting clear improvement targets. Supporting formal attendance procedures in line with relevant policies. Working collaboratively to reduce persistent absence and lateness. Maintaining accurate records and producing attendance reports.

Using school management information systems, including Arbor. Supporting pupils within the classroom on a one-to-one, small-group and whole-class basis where required. Supporting positive behaviour and inclusion across the school. Working with families to strengthen the relationship between home and school. Contributing to safeguarding, pastoral support and multi-agency working. Supporting extracurricular activities and wider school initiatives.

The Ideal Candidate We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and resilient individual who can make a positive difference to the lives of children. You will ideally have:
Experience working within a school or educational setting. Experience working with children and young people. Experience in a pastoral, learning mentor or pupil support role. Experience supporting children with SEMH needs. Knowledge of attendance expectations and attendance intervention. Experience using data to monitor attendance, progress and performance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organisational and IT skills. Experience using management information systems such as Arbor.

The ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers and colleagues. The ability to remain calm and resilient when dealing with challenging situations. A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. A commitment to inclusion and achieving the best outcomes for every pupil. A positive, enthusiastic and proactive approach. Qualifications The successful candidate will be expected to have: GCSEs or equivalent, including at least Grade 4/C in English and Maths.

A full and relevant Level 3 qualification. A National Learning Mentor Training certificate would be desirable. First-aid training, or a willingness to complete this training.
