Are you passionate about English and committed to helping students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed?
You could currently be teaching English in a further education college, secondary school, sixth form, training provider or adult learning setting. You may already be an experienced lecturer or teacher looking for a fresh opportunity within a supportive college environment.
As our Lecturer in English, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons that bring the subject to life and demonstrate how strong English skills support students in their studies, future careers and everyday lives. You will assess learning, monitor progress and adapt your teaching to meet a range of individual needs and abilities. You will also manage classroom behaviour positively, maintain accurate student records and work closely with colleagues to help every learner achieve their potential.
You will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject and have at least one year’s experience in a teaching or training role. You will be an enthusiastic and creative practitioner with excellent communication skills, a positive approach and the resilience to support and motivate students who may previously have found English challenging. A teaching qualification is desirable; however, if you do not already hold one, the College will support you to obtain one.
At Bishop Burton College, you will join a friendly and collaborative English and Maths department that places students at the heart of everything it does. You will have the opportunity to make a genuine difference by helping young people achieve an essential qualification, grow in confidence and progress towards their chosen career or further study.
If you are an inspirational English practitioner who believes every student can succeed with the right encouragement and support, we would love to hear from you.
Bishop Burton College/Riseholme College promote equality, diversity and inclusion ensuring fair treatment, representation, and opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their background or characteristics. We see this as essential for creating inclusive environments and fostering innovation and creativity.
