Job description

Grade C Teaching Assistant with experience of supporting GCSE Science

The Hive is a provision opened by Hill Park School on a newly refurbished site in Lynchets Close, Hollingdean in September 2023.

The Hive is for autistic students between Y7 and Y11 who have high anxiety that prevents them accessing mainstream secondary schools or facilities co-located at mainstream secondary schools.

Many have been home educated or accessed tutoring packages due to the barriers they face attending school and at The Hive, are able to access an age-related curriculum and achieve GCSE’s and other Secondary accreditations.

We are looking to recruit a C Grade Science Teaching Assistant, 32.5 hours per week, term time only, 47.36 weeks per year.

  • have patience and a calm manner
  • have resilience and a commitment to meeting the needs of children with additional needs
  • are an excellent team player who is flexible and shows an ability to recognise and respond to pupils’ needs
  • can provide support to individuals and small groups
  • can support students in the core subject of Science up to GCSE level and be prepared to take over leading the lessons in the event of a teacher’s absence
  • have Maths and English Qualifications at GCSE or equivalent
  • be able to manage a challenging environment, both physically and mentally
  • the role may include supporting personal care and full training will be provided. The need to be able to adapt your skills and to be flexible and resilient is crucial.
