Position: Public Service Lecturer - 18.5 hours per week
Location: Swindon

We're looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Public Services Lecturer to join our growing team and deliver high-quality teaching, learning and enrichment across Levels 1–5, with a particular focus on the BTEC Level 3 Public Services programme
.

Whether your background is in the emergency services, armed forces or another relevant public service, this is an opportunity to bring your industry experience into the classroom and help learners develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours they need to progress into public service careers.

We're also open to candidates moving directly from industry and can provide teacher training where required.

What you'll do
  • Deliver engaging theoretical and practical Public Services teaching across Levels 1–5.
  • Teach and assess learners on the BTEC Level 3 Public Services programme.
  • Support learners to develop the skills and behaviours needed for careers in the uniformed public services.
  • Deliver topics including leadership, discipline, behaviour, citizenship, fitness and service preparation.
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities, enrichment and off-site visits.
  • Monitor, assess and report on learner progress.
  • Develop engaging learning materials and activities that allow learners to apply their knowledge.
  • Build relationships with external agencies to enhance curriculum delivery.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and the College's quality assurance processes.
  • Potentially take on course leadership responsibilities, depending on experience.
What we're looking for
  • A relevant Level 4 undergraduate degree or extensive vocational experience in the subject area alongside a Level 3 qualification
    .
  • Strong knowledge and experience within Public Services or a relevant vocational background.
  • A Level 5 teaching qualification, currently working towards one, or a willingness to undertake teacher training.
  • Level 2 English and Maths.
  • Level 2 ICT or equivalent.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with learners and colleagues.
  • Strong organisation, time management and workload prioritisation skills.
  • A commitment to professional development, equality and inclusion.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a supportive team.
  • Flexibility to work across College campuses as required.
