Thank you for your interest in the position of Mathematics Teacher at Abersychan School. This is an important position for our school, as we aim to further improve the quality of provision and raise standards in Mathematics. The Mathematics Department consists of strong teachers and you would be part of a passionate team. An established Curriculum Leader of Mathematics is innovative and forward-thinking, always striving to develop the Mathematics curriculum.

Abersychan School is an 11-16 co-educational comprehensive school that meets the needs of students of all abilities. The school currently has 710 students, 40 teachers and 43 support staff. The school serves an area of significant socio-economic deprivation, with 31% of students eligible for free school meals and 51% living within the 20% most deprived areas of Wales.

The school’s aims are delivered through a strong pastoral system, a commitment to providing high-quality learning experiences and an extensive range of sporting, cultural, musical and extra-curricular activities. The Mathematics Department at Abersychan School is a successful, hardworking and dynamic team with a shared vision to ensure that all students experience the highest quality teaching and learning to achieve their best. The department is well resourced with a range of digital teaching tools, including interactive whiteboards, visualisers and Chromebooks. The team work very closely with the LA School Improvement Service (formally EAS) and the cluster primary schools to collaboratively advance pedagogical approaches.
