Job description

Vacancy:
Inclusion Intervention Space (IIS) Teacher

Hours:
Full-time

Start date:
January 2027 (or earlier)

This is a permanent position.

Are you an ambitious and inclusive teacher who is committed to helping every child achieve their potential? Would you thrive in a school that champions belonging, collaboration, and innovation? If so, Westdene Primary School would love to hear from you.

We are delighted to invite applications for an Inclusion Teacher to lead an Inclusion Intervention Space (IIS) from January 2027, or earlier if available. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and develop a provision that supports children to thrive both academically and personally.

We are seeking a passionate and skilled teacher who shares our belief that every child deserves an exceptional education and the opportunity to experience success. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering provision that enables pupils to overcome barriers to learning, develop independence and flourish within our inclusive school community.

As part of our ongoing planning, we are exploring an IIS model that will focus on supporting autism, children working significantly below age-related expectations, and those requiring additional support to develop independence, self-regulation and engagement in learning.

Westdene is a welcoming and inclusive school, proudly situated on the northern outskirts of Brighton. Recently judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted (2024), we are proud of our high standards, our strong sense of community, and our unwavering commitment to providing an education where every child can achieve.

At Westdene, we offer:

  • A warm, welcoming and highly supportive team.
  • Motivated, enthusiastic and joyful learners who are eager to achieve.
  • Engaged families and a strong community ethos.
  • Fantastic opportunities for ongoing professional growth and leadership development.
  • A genuine commitment to promoting staff wellbeing and maintaining a healthy work/life balance.
  • A leadership team that is dedicated to valuing, supporting and advocating for all staff.

Encouraging a diverse workforce

At Westdene Primary School and Preschool, we are proud that our school is a culturally rich and diverse place of learning, and we are keen to encourage people from diverse backgrounds to apply and join our staff team. As part of our continued commitment to equity and representation, we actively encourage applications from Black, racially minoritised, and other underrepresented groups in education sectors.

Brighton and Hove is known and loved for its diversity. Not only is the mixture of people, culture and skills vital to the economic and social development of the city, it's what makes Brighton & Hove such a great place to live, work and visit.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
