Waste Team Leader Chemring Countermeasures is a world leading and innovative company, designing and developing countermeasure solutions to armed forces throughout the world. Overview of the role Supervisor for the waste team and co-ordination of waste operations across site.
Responsible for delivering safe disposal and removal of hazardous, nonhazardous and specialist waste. Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all matters of hazardous and non-hazardous waste management. Responsibilities Plan, coordinate and facilitate daily routine and non routine waste operations, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of services by the Waste Technician’s Ensure waste is handled, segregated, stored, packaged, labelled, moved and disposed of in accordance with site procedures and regulatory requirements Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organisation across all waste and recycling areas Monitor waste volumes and coordinate collections, ensuring all documentation (e.g. transfer notes, consignment notes) is completed accurately and remains fully traceable.
Manage waste related visitors and contractors on site, including Permit to work processes, ensuring all activities are carried out safely and in compliance with site requirements. Develop, implement and maintain waste related QMS documentation (Work Instructions, Risk Assessments, Policy’s etc) and deliver training and toolbox talks to support compliance. Respond to and manage waste-related incidents (e.g. spills, mis-segregation), supporting upset condition and emergency procedures.
Support internal and external audits of waste storage and burning ground. Identify and implement opportunities for waste minimisation, reuse, recycling and cost savings. Promote and enforce health, safety and environmental good working practices and standards across all waste activities Work closely with the Safety team to ensure compliance with all relevant legislations, governance and licensing requirements (e.g. Environmental Protection Act, Explosive Regulations, Disposal of Explosive Waste HSE Guidance).
Collate, monitor and report departmental KPIs to identify trends, track performance, and escalate issue’s. Essential Qualifications, Skills and/or Experience Right to live and work in the UK Minimum of 5
Years’ experience working within waste management, environmental services, or similar role. Knowledge of hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling and regulatory requirements Proven experience in a supervisory or team leader role Desirable Qualifications, Skills and/or Experience Experience in a defense manufacturing environment WAMITAB / CIWM Level 3 or higher qualification in Waste Management IOSH or NEBOSH Safety Qualification This role will be worked over a 4.5 day week;
Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 16:45 and Friday 08:00 – 12:30.
