This role builds a strong foundation in component selection, supply chain, compliance, and electronics, offering structured exposure and clear progression toward a Hardware Design Engineer position.

As a Component Engineer, you'll support the full component lifecycle in innovative products, collaborating closely with design, manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with selection, approval, and qualification of electronic components
• Evaluate alternatives, second sources, and parametric comparisons
• Maintain component libraries and databases
• Monitor lifecycle status (NRND, LTB, EOL) and support obsolescence mitigation
• Contribute to last-time-buy analysis, BOM generation, and risk assessments
• Ensure compliance with standards and regulations (RoHS, REACH, etc.)
• Support component and product testing/evaluation
• Liaise with suppliers for technical data and availability
• Help improve selection processes and standards
• Join training, seminars, trade shows, and audits

What We're Looking For:

• Degree (recent or imminent) in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or related field
• Familiarity with schematic/PCB tools, datasheets, and BOMs
• Multi-disciplinary team experience (e.g., projects/placements)
• Strong Excel/spreadsheet skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration abilities
• Ability to prioritise and work effectively
