Mechanical Development Engineer

An established precision engineering business, specialising in high-performance machined components and complex assemblies for highly regulated, safety-critical sectors, is looking for a Mechanical Development Engineer to join its Design team.

This is a hands-on, varied role where a Mechanical Development Engineer will bridge the gap between design, manufacture and production readiness, ensuring customer assemblies are robust, practical and fully defined.

• Review customer assemblies for manufacturability and component suitability

• Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to resolve design or process issues

• Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings in the MRP system

• Ensure designs are production-ready and aligned with workshop capabilities

• Support cross-functional teams, from Purchasing to Account Management

• Engineering knowledge and practical experience suited to a Mechanical Development Engineer role

• Mechanical degree advantageous but not essential

• CAD modelling experience

• Understanding of workshop/manufacturing processes

• Confident communicator and team player
