AboutThe Role
Reporting into the Engineering supervisor, the main purpose of this role is to provide the Engineering department with a robust, effective, well-stocked Engineering stores area. You will liaise with suppliers and contractors to ensure timely delivery of spare parts and consumables. The post holder will be responsible for upkeep of the IFS purchase requisition system, ordering, purchase order creation and distribution, and upkeep of relevant paperwork.
Creation and upkeep of a critical spares list will be key in this role.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Work at all times in accordance with company Health & Safety policies, procedures, practices, and relevant legislation
- Maintain an audit-ready approach, ensuring engineering spares and related documentation comply with BRC standards
- Ensure that internal and external data protection requirements are strictly adhered to within your area of responsibility and report any breach in line with the Employee Breach Notification Procedure
Technical Knowledge & Identification
- Identify engineering materials, including metal types, fittings (e.g. UNF/UNC), and motor/gearbox specifications to support maintenance activities
Spare Parts Management
- Ensure adequate stock levels of spare parts and critical spares are maintained
- Support the identification of essential spares in collaboration with the Engineering team to minimise downtime
- Prepare and kit PM parts in advance to support efficient completion of planned maintenance activities
- Coordinate the provision of spares, service kits, and materials for planned shutdowns and major maintenance works
Systems & Documentation
- Populate and maintain the engineering spare parts database within the CMMS system (IFS)
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of all spare parts records and related documentation
Supplier & Cost Management
- Drive value for money through effective supplier management, including contract pricing and consignment stock arrangements
- Create and maintain an up-to-date supplier database
- Projects & Continuous Improvement:
Contribute to project work as specified by Engineering Management
General Responsibilities
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by Engineering Management
- Experience in a Stores/Purchasing position
- Trade Counter background
- Mechanical/Electrical
Essential
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision; monitoring/prioritising workload to achieve targets
- High attention to detail
- Able to organise work to meet quality standards and deadlines; able to work as part of a team
- Ability to work under pressure
- Good knowledge of Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
Desirable
- Previous experience in an Engineering store
- Engineering qualification
- Experience in CMMS systems
- Experience of food manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of HACCP
