Planner
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Planner to join our client's Engineering team. This role is responsible for preparing, optimising, and controlling planned maintenance activities to maximise safe plant availability while minimising reactive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities- The role ensures all maintenance activities are fully planned, resourced and scheduled using a structured look-ahead process, enabling efficient execution by technicians and contractors.
- The Planner drives maintenance predictability, backlog control and continuous improvement through effective use of CMMS and scheduling tools, supporting regulatory compliance within a high-hazard COMAH environment.
- Develop fully detailed job plans and work packs that allow technicians to execute work without further clarification, reducing delays and reactive decision-making in the field.
- Working with the Procurement Department, source and create purchase orders for consumables, spares and equipment.
- Prepare reports and presentations for management to communicate maintenance performance and performance of systems and equipment.
- Monitor and update CMMS data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct regular audits of maintenance processes and CMMS data integrity.
- 3-5 years' experience in maintenance planning within COMAH, Oil & Gas, chemical, or heavy industrial environments.
- Demonstrable experience using CMMS planning modules (e.g. SAP PM, Maximo, IFS, PEMAC or similar).
- Experience using maintenance scheduling or project planning tools (e.g.Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent).
- Experience building resource-loaded schedules and maintenance look-ahead plans.
- Understanding of reliability-centred maintenance and failure reporting processes.
- Proficiency in MS SharePoint and Office.
- Clear reporting to management and all departments.
- Meticulous attention to detail, thus ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Strong logical and structured planning mindset.
- Ability to challenge reactive work requests appropriately.
- Understanding of maintenance criticality and risk prioritisation.
- Strong cross-department coordination skills.
