Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Botany Bay
This role will serve as a technical bridge between design, testing, and manufacturing, supporting both electronic and mechanical challenges while influencing New Product Introduction from concept through to production. There is a significant opportunity for career progression, with the possibility of training into a full Production Engineer role.
Based in a modern facility in North London, the company offers an excellent environment with strong infrastructure for designing, developing, and testing advanced cross-functional technologies. Due to increased project activity and continued product development, they are looking to appoint a Test Engineer to join their established engineering team.
This position offers real variety and technical breadth. You will be embedded within the production and testing environment, supporting mechanical and electronic assemblies while working closely with design, quality, and manufacturing teams. The role is pivotal in ensuring products meet quality standards, diagnosing issues efficiently, and contributing to process improvements.
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
Provide hands-on support for testing activities, troubleshooting whether issues are mechanical, electrical, or supplier-related
Develop, update, and maintain test specifications, work instructions, and operating procedures
Support functional and in-circuit testing, capturing and reporting test data
Contribute to New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including reviewing drawings, identifying tooling or purchasing requirements, and ensuring smooth transitions into manufacturing
Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure continuous process improvement
This role requires strong technical judgement, practical problem-solving ability, and confidence working across both electronic and mechanical disciplines. The environment involves PCB-based products, cable assemblies, and full box builds, so prior experience within a high-tech or electronics manufacturing and testing setting is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate requires:
HNC/HND level qualification in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering
Hands-on problem-solving experience with electro-mechanical technology
Experience working in a high-tech engineering or electronics testing/manufacturing environment
