Carmichael UK is working with a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering a key section of works on the HS2 project. We are currently seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join the team supporting the delivery of major civil engineering works in Greatworth Northamptonshire
.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quality Engineer – or an experienced Site Engineer looking to transition into a quality-focused role – to contribute to one of the UK’s largest infrastructure programmes.

The Role

As Quality Engineer, you will support the implementation and management of the project Quality Management System, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with specifications, quality standards, and client requirements. You will work closely with site teams and subcontractors to maintain high quality standards across the project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of the Project Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Prepare, review, and manage Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
  • Carry out site inspections and quality audits across civil engineering works
  • Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective actions through to close-out
  • Ensure works are delivered in line with project specifications and quality standards
  • Work closely with construction teams, engineers, and subcontractors to promote a strong quality culture
  • Maintain accurate quality documentation and reporting
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Quality Engineer within civil engineering or major infrastructure projects, or a Site Engineer with strong quality experience
  • Good understanding of quality systems, audits, inspections, and documentation control
  • Experience working on major infrastructure, rail, highways, or large civil engineering projects
  • Strong knowledge of engineering documentation including ITPs, inspections, and as-built records
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Right to work in the UK
