The Ferrovial BAM Joint Venture (FBJV) has a successful history of delivering critical infrastructure for the UK on time and to budget together in joint venture partnership. They first worked together in 2010 as BFK, delivering three Crossrail contracts, including the longest stretch of tunnelling works between Royal Oak and Farringdon and Farringdon Station, the first central station to be completed on the Elizabeth Line.

The team is also delivering the Silvertown Tunnel project together in East London and has been delivering excellence at each stage of HS2, such as Fusion JV for the Enabling Works packages, EKFB for the central Main Works Contract and now delivering the track infrastructure across the entire HS2 route. We are now recruiting for a Track Design Coordinator to join the HS2 Track infrastructure project at the initial design phase which will run concurrently with the completion of main works contracts, which are now at their peak.

Reporting to the Track Design Lead, youll play a key role working closely with the Design and Delivery Teams, Design partners and Rail Systems Alliance members. Your team This role will be based at one of our HS2 project offices in London Euston or Birmingham Snow Hill. Making Possible As the Track Design Coordinator, you will be responsible for the following:
Manage and coordinate the design for the track slab (resilient in situ and/or standard slab) throughout the design and construction technical life cycles, working with the design and construction teams, the designers, client and stakeholders. Ensure the track slab design comply with the appropriate client standards, including construction design management (CDM) regulations. Coordination of the track slab design delivery for a high-speed track contract, under the guidance of the Track Design Lead, including integration of PW and any TW / temporary stages, integration of assurance and managing the delivery of the associated digital deliverables, in line with the construction and overall project programme, cost and client requirements.

The track slab contract scope includes resilient in situ and standard slab track sections and implies coordination with CMS, other rail system elements as well as with the civil works designs. The candidate will be responsible for, coordinating the designers and the supply chain inputs needed to achieve an efficient and compliant design for these elements. Manage the input from rail specialists and N&V specialist in their area (in situ and/or standard slab).

Close liaison with the Designer to ensure the design delivery on time, optimized and in accordance with the clients requirements is essential. Work closely with supply chain providing the track elements, client subject matter expert and other contractors. The role involves contributing to the management of the associated interfaces. Attend the weekly meetings with the construction team and broader design team and client in Birmingham and/or London.

Attending / chairing meetings for track design related issues during design and construction and provide technical support for their mitigation. Support the Client with identifying change, risk and opportunities and constantly striving for efficiencies and cost savings. Aid in the study of optimization and liaison with the commercial, planning, design delivery teams, and designers. Support the link and coordination with construction teams for management of track related issues.

Provide technical input and support to relevant commercial communications (SNCs, NCRs, CEs, Departures, etc.) Close out track slab issues within area of responsibility in timely manner. Review of monitoring reports and certificates. Support delivery of progressive technical assurance during design, construction and handover process. What do you bring to the role?

Minimum Requirements for the Position Experience in design systems integration of Railway Projects Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or related field). CEng (PWAy Institute or ICE) desirable. Experience relevant to rial track on major construction projects, including design, modelling, or construction support. A sound understanding of rail design codes. Knowledge of safety and environmental legislation, impact mitigation and dealing with statutory authorities.

Experience in managing and liaising with third parties and other contractors Very good communication skills Focus on Efficiency, Environment and Sustainability, driving innovation.
