Quality Engineering
JR PAT Testing is growing rapidly across the UK, and we would love to speak with you if you are an experienced PAT Engineer with the equipment and insurance in place. If you are already self‑employed or considering becoming self‑employed, we would like to hear from you.
Our onboarding process starts with a friendly conversation. All our engineers are to have their own insurance and to have their equipment calibrated at least once a year. In return, along with our engineer handbook, contract for services and branded clothing, we supply labels and technical support.
We are based in Wales and offer self‑employed contracts for PAT Engineers with a City & Guilds 2377 qualification or equivalent. The role is flexible and can be part‑time or full‑time. Engineers must be reliable, honest, have a ‘can‑do’ attitude, and keep all testing instruments up‑to‑date in accordance with relevant regulations.
Job DescriptionThe role offers earnings on a pro‑rata basis depending on the rate per appliance, the number of tests, and job dynamics. Jobs range from one‑day projects to long‑term contracts. Engineers must travel within Wales or a reasonable commuting distance; at least one day per week within Wales is required.
Typical day of a PAT engineerOn any given day the engineer packs all required tools, including testers and record books, then travels to the first job. The engineer tests appliances such as microwaves, kettles, computers, and other electrical items, informs users of the results, and records findings either in a dedicated PAT test report book or an electronic system. The engineer may need to fill out completion certificates, checklists, and other paperwork.
The work involves constant movement from one location to another, requiring organisation and accuracy.
